Boxing at O’Malley Fitness
O’Malley Fitness Geelong gym owner Mick O’Malley is an Australian Commonwealth Boxing Champion, having won titles in Victoria, interstate, and internationally. Mick was the first Australian in 24 years to win a Commonwealth title on foreign soil and was also the first Australian ever to win two national titles in the same year.
Mick received several boxing awards between 1996 and 2003 and was ranked number one as the Victorian, Australian, Pan Pacific, Commonwealth, and World Champion. Mick’s professional boxing record totalled 19 fights, 15 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses.
Mick has personally trained each one of his three O’Malley Fitness personal trainers in boxing and fitness. Each O’Malley Fitness trainer is equipped with the skills to train their clients using professional boxing techniques.

It's also really good for keeping your mind busy, so I know that personally, if my client has had a tough day, I love to do some boxing with them. It’s always super enjoyable for them. It's a great cardio workout too, combining full body movements by using the arms for punching, core for twisting, and legs when moving and ducking/ slipping. Boxing is also perfect to do in partners as it teaches the skill of how to punch, as well as how to hold pads. It usually gets a bit of a laugh out of people too!”

Boxing for fitness
Everyone who trains at our Geelong gym has the option to incorporate boxing into their training at O’Malley Fitness. Our personal trainers often use boxing for cardio and coordination training during group fitness, one on one PT sessions, and during partner training.
